Shana, the owner and founder of Something Nutritious, is a registered dietitian (RD) with a masters from CUNY Queens College in Nutrition Specialization focusing on medical nutrition therapy. She does individualized nutrition counseling and uses motivational interviewing strategies to implement healthy behavior changes personalized to each client. Her previous hospital experience, working in the cardiac and intensive care units, motivated her to leave the hospital and do preventative nutrition counseling, working with clients to prevent them from becoming hospital patients.
Besides for being an RD, Shana has a family with which she practices what she preaches. Not a day goes by where Shana methodically packs her family’s lunch to include the necessary food groups to ensure excellent nutrition. Staying active as an individual and as a family is another priority for Shana. She encourages family activities that involve movement and being mindful, two other lifestyle factors which Shana encourages her clients to embody.
